IPC – International Primary Curriculum

The IPC provides a curriculum framework for learners with multiple nationalities and cultural backgrounds within the same school context.

IPC is a comprehensive curriculum for 5-11-year olds and is used in over 1,000 schools in over 90 countries worldwide.  IPC is designed around three essential constructs to encourage the holistic development of internationally mined learners:

Personal learning goals

  • Inquiry
  • Resilience
  • Morality
  • Communication
  • Thoughtfulness
  • Cooperation
  • Respect
  • Adaptability
  •

International learning goals
The aim of the International Goals are to equip learners with solutions to the following:
1.  How do children get along with one another and how they can respectfully disagree in a manner that is      helpful and contributes towards finding a common ground or solution?
2.
How can children become proud of their own national heritage and culture and (at the same time) deeply respect the heritage and culture of others?
3.
How can children achieve more by developing an understanding of unification?

  1. Subject-specific learning goals.
Within inquiry units the children learn through diverse lenses, these include including Science, History, Geography, Music, Art, ICT, Computing, Technology, PE, Society, International, World Languages.

The IPC comprises a diverse range of exciting, engaging and globally relevant thematic units of learning, which are designed around the IPC Learning Process.

The stages of learning are defined as the:

  • Entry Point

  • Knowledge Harvest

  • The Big Picture – Explaining the Theme

  • Research Activities

  • Recording Activities

  • Exit Point  – Action-based research application of knowledge project in the school community
