Secondary school
At AIS Secondary, we believe adolescents learn best when they are challenged to think critically, act independently, and connect their learning to real-world experiences.
Through inquiry and student agency, we empower young people to discover their purpose and contribute positively to an ever-changing world.
Secondary School Registration
The IMYC programme has officially launched, and AIS and Hermann Wesselink College are excited to welcome all IMYC students to the HWC campus.
All specialist subjects are taught in state-of-the-art learning environments by highly qualified and experienced subject specialists. The International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) is currently in place as the school’s main inquiry-based programme, providing students with engaging, internationally minded learning experiences that connect learning to the real world.
During the 2026–2027 school year, AIS will apply for candidacy in the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP). Upon successful authorisation, the school will transition from the IMYC to the IB MYP, further strengthening its commitment to inquiry-based, internationally focused education in our region.

Wouldn’t life be boring if every day school experiences were predictable and set in stone?

Our learning environment
At the HWC campus, students benefit from specialist facilities including fully equipped Science and Biology laboratories, multiple-purpose gymnasiums and sports facilities, dedicated Arts and Drama spaces, and an expansive school library. The eco-friendly campus design encourages collaboration, wellbeing, and active learning, creating an inspiring environment where students can explore their interests, develop new skills, and thrive both academically and socially.
Through Music, Drama, Visual Arts, and Performance, students are encouraged to express themselves creatively, develop confidence, and discover their unique talents. Students have access to dedicated arts facilities and are provided with regular opportunities to participate in performances, exhibitions, and creative projects throughout the year. One of the highlights of the school calendar is the annual school musical, where students collaborate across year groups to bring a large-scale production to life. These experiences foster teamwork, resilience, communication skills, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
Our curriculum
At AIS, the IMYC learning experience is built around six engaging Units of Inquiry that connect learning across subjects through meaningful, real-world themes. Students explore transdisciplinary concepts and big ideas that encourage them to make connections between different subject areas and understand how learning applies beyond the classroom.
Learning is concept-based and focused on the development of transferable skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, communication, creativity, and self-management. Rather than simply memorising information, students are challenged to apply their knowledge in authentic contexts, deepening their understanding and preparing them for future learning.

Our community projects
Community-based projects form an important part of the IMYC experience. Students are encouraged to take action, apply what they have learned, and contribute positively to their local and global communities. Through these experiences, students develop a sense of ownership and responsibility for the world around them while actively practising our school values of Curiosity, Agency, and Responsibility.
By connecting learning to real-life challenges and opportunities, the IMYC empowers students to become thoughtful, compassionate, and proactive young people who understand that their actions can make a meaningful difference.
